A tweet-based journal of what I’ve been playing…
So @GunfireReborn is a really fun FPS. If only it didn't have the reset problem (exacerbated by it being a rogue-LITE, i.e. you get stronger while the game doesn't).
This really has become my most-common #gamedesign problem with #roguelike games. pic.twitter.com/ZXAV9PqlhX

Tiny Islands by @dr_d_king is an elegant little game: https://t.co/299Byi2gyp
It boils down city builders into a bite-sized, replayable and self-contained experience.
(Oh, and if that sounds like an appealing design approach to you, also check out Islanders by @_grizzlygames.) pic.twitter.com/kKSMYSbMGz

I've been looking for a top-down action #roguelike with thoughtful, deliberate ("Souls-like" I guess) combat for a while. Devil Slayer – Raksasi by @glassescatgames seems to fit that bill perfectly!
Shout-out to @Esty8nine, master of #indiegame showcases, for featuring it! ๐ pic.twitter.com/jdNWIW0Yqq

"You won on EASY mode with the Vagabond disguise!"
"Easy" you say… oh well, @GoldenKroneGame by @humbit is a really unique #roguelike! Swapping between vampire and human form while managing your resources for both is super interesting.
Oh, and you can smash windows! โ๏ธ๐ช๐ง pic.twitter.com/cGlCWSsnTk

"Respecting the player's time" has been a hot topic recently. Enter @Dungeonmans which allows you to skip a dungeon if it deems it a "boring grind". ๐#roguelike #gamedesign pic.twitter.com/D3EW3Lla5n

Whoa, 15 years after release, one of my favorite games ever is now on Steam – the timelessly elegant Defense of the Oasis! ๐๏ธhttps://t.co/eIT4R05zIZ
It has been notoriously hard to get a hold of, so now is your chance to close that games history gap! pic.twitter.com/kOJxc4uVVc

I lovingly call this the "fireworks build" in @NovaDriftGame…
It's a really fun #roguelike btw. Not the biggest fan of twin-stick or bullet-hell shooters, but this one is is in neither category. It's slower, more deliberate, build choices matter, Asteroids-like controls. Cool! pic.twitter.com/RrKPtWwCP8

Krumit's Tale by @slothwerks is out and puts an interesting spin on the #roguelike #deckbuilding formula.
Your equipment and the monsters are shuffled into a combined deck and arranged as a 3×3 board with new tiles "dropping" in from the top.
One Uberlich down, next plz! ๐ช pic.twitter.com/kExOTVqUXs

Can't believe Good Sudoku by @helvetica and @games_by_jack is letting me play Sudoku without hating it. They managed to break down the "rote-chores barrier" extremely well, so the interesting aspects really get to shine. ๐ pic.twitter.com/doYaWTSiUX

I like @TheMonsterTrain's new Seraph variant. It discourages playing anything on its floor, but that just means you have to work around it in indirect ways. And that's usually way more interesting than the old "you hit me, I hit you" #gamedesign found in so many turn-based games. pic.twitter.com/EUe9ygHJme

Been playing blitz on @lichess quite a lot. Watching the @stockfishchess engine figure out the best moves by exploring the decision tree in post-game analysis mode is fascinating. ๐ค๐งฎ
Seeing lots of cool AI-assisted learning possibilities in games recently (e.g. Good Sudoku). pic.twitter.com/2hRgIDcF5E

A Monster's Expedition by @Draknek and friends is a really clever puzzle game that packs a lot of "epiphany punch" with just a few mechanics. Check it out if you're into puzzles or are looking for a new "good #gamedesign" specimen. pic.twitter.com/MGhSIGI4f5

If you can't get enough of #roguelike deckbuilders, @againstmoongame is worth a look! Units have unique effects and aren't just stat bundles. What I haven't seen yet are abilities interacting with lanes or positioning (e.g. movement, pushing etc.). But there's a lot to unlock… pic.twitter.com/F32GToGQqa

Auto-battler meets #roguelike in #TheDungeonBeneath by @PuzzleBox_Games. Played a bit of its closed beta and it definitely has potential. Hoping the concept will get expanded upon in future versions (more unique abilities, potentially bigger less solvable battles etc.). pic.twitter.com/s6VJ89FTdT
