A tweet-based journal of what I’ve been playing…
That's a beefy bison! 🦬

Super Auto Pets by @TeamWoodGames is an interesting auto-battler! It has a clever asychronous format (you find an opponent for a round, not for a whole match), but that also means there's no counterplay (apparently there is a "versus mode" however). pic.twitter.com/U0586othBr
That Storyteller demo by @danielben and @A_i shows the potential of an incredibly polished "build your own story" puzzle game. Looking forward to its full release! pic.twitter.com/xULN6bOs5w

So it's #FF and I've been playing a bunch of #LDJAM compo entries throughout the week. Here are a few that stood out, either because they were inspiring, funny, unusual, or just really well-made. Check them out and maybe follow these cool #IndieDev folks! 🙂#GameDev #LudumDare pic.twitter.com/0x4n19toUe

Having really enjoyed the systems exploration aspect of Leaf Blower Revolution, I'm on the hunt for unique idle games. This one has a full #roguelike top-down shooter built into it. Still needs polish (e.g. sound effects), but definitely has potential! https://t.co/ml766l4FBf

The fact that this game's wonky PC port is pretty fun shows how strong the Tarkov core loop is. (How about a non-shooter Tarkov now?)
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) October 18, 2021
I even prefer some aspects in this one, mainly its transparency. It tells you where items can spawn, gives you an in-game map. No wiki required. https://t.co/Lr6luGQe8e
Another Tarkov-like on the horizon: @TheCycleGame. There's a playtest right now and it's already really neat. The instant drop-ins (it runs 6-hour instances and dynamically spawns players / items during the session) are amazing compared to Tarkov's painful minutes of loading… pic.twitter.com/2nypGJnOjd
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) October 19, 2021
Get Ogre It by @croixOW is a neat little #roguelike with a twist. Instead of bumping into enemies, you have to avoid them. Your only tool is the fact that you switch between ogre and human every 8 turns which means you're friends with one half of the enemies. Pretty clever! pic.twitter.com/JBA7i6a3cf

Looks like the Tarkov devs have been reading our @prosp_universe devlog and sneakily added their own randomly generated quests over night. 🧐
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) October 24, 2021
Jokes aside, they're a nice diversion from the story tasks (which after doing them 5+ times have a few "yikes, that one again" moments). pic.twitter.com/9CBO009L8X
Haven't checked in on @PlayRuneterra for a while and sure enough they added their own #roguelike deck-builder mode, including a full-blown Spire-like map graph.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) October 25, 2021
Pretty cool if you (like myself) enjoy the core mechanics, but don't really care to "keep up with the meta" and all. pic.twitter.com/zsP6nA3wy6
Leaf Blower Revolution just added digging, so naturally this is my new team of choice. 🐧🦆🦋#Pets #IndieGames pic.twitter.com/zyo20PiWtQ

We've seen bingo boards in competitive events such as @TwitchRivals, but Leaf Blower Revolution recently added a randomized bingo challenge into the actual game. It's basically a more structured and replayable take on achievements that could work for many games.#GameDesign pic.twitter.com/GZ1Q9zDgLD

Been playing @DeadsideGame. Lots of potential, gunplay is really solid! It gives a glimpse into Tarkov's future open-world plans (vs. instance-based raids). There's a lot of walking right now, but they're working on raising max. server populations, i.e. the density of encounters. pic.twitter.com/QDkfBxHlDv

Really cool Gloomhaven-inspired PICO-8 game! 😮 https://t.co/9qP9kpWT38

Anarchy: Wolf's Law is an FPS, but you conquer & manage facilities for income. There's "implicit multiplayer", i.e. other players play in their instance and e.g. influence security measures in yours. Interesting model for an online shooter where twitch skill is less important. pic.twitter.com/o7Fr6oWfmM

I know I'm late to the party, but Deep Rock Galactic (@JoinDeepRock) is great. Love how it makes 3-dimensional traversal part of the challenge and the random generation is insanely well done.

BUT… did anyone ever find out where all the beard goes when you put on a helmet? 🧐 pic.twitter.com/A9PDdAoMAJ

Evercade VS Founder Edition by @evercaderetro arrived. Feels like #RetroGaming Christmas! 🎄
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 1, 2021
Can already tell the Bitmap Brothers cartridge will be a staple for Chaos Engine and Speedball 2 alone! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/jrzoD9rhWe
Happy to report @RLSideswipe is a cleverly condensed version of @RocketLeague for mobile! Even better: While there are no IAPs yet, it seems to stay true to the fair cosmetics-based monetization of its big brother.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 2, 2021
Also one of the best uses yet for @mygamesir's X2 controller! 🎮 pic.twitter.com/Fr7SucbdQv
It's old news now, but as someone who last played @RocketLeague when it originally came out (and lots of Unreal Tournament 2004's Carball mod before), it's really interesting to see the new less "soccer with cars" modes that came in since release. Don't mind me, just trying to @SurviveIcarus by hanging out in this little hole I dug into a rock until the storm passes by… pic.twitter.com/IWkRhMnYJG

I call this the 🐤 chicksplosion 🐤 strategy in Super Auto Pets… and sadly it got nerfed in today's patch.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 8, 2021
Jokes aside, @TeamWoodGames is doing a great job supporting this game! 🙂 pic.twitter.com/oI5KnrTMxc
Another cool game you didn't know existed: Mini Rogue was originally a 9-card solitaire print-and-play game made in a "nanogame" contest. It was later brought to @bateskecom's Arduboy by the PressPlayOnTape crew. Now it's on the @Pokittocom as well!

Surprise iOS release of the week. Really cute and well-made #roguelike/-lite tailored to one-handed mobile controls (think Archero but without two dozen F2P currencies). Worth checking out! https://t.co/szzlqGuhV8
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 9, 2021
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon by @YachtClubGames is among the juciest #roguelike puzzlers ever. It also has a bunch of great accessibility features and an option to play worlds in a random instead of fixed linear order. Told you this was a great idea! 😜 https://t.co/j1pPVD1AFX pic.twitter.com/f6ibMhAMjT
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 13, 2021
Amazing idea for a game! Also I kind of want every F2P game to have this in their shops now… https://t.co/BeFKcLd8MX pic.twitter.com/17JdNSwaO0

How do they come up with such unique and clever concepts so frequently? 😮 https://t.co/5fdPqL3cnu
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 21, 2021
Super Auto Pets by @TeamWoodGames doesn't stop throwing out surprises. Here's a full level-3 team I just got 10 wins with. It is also one of the strangest… easily "screenshot territory" as @Northernlion would say.

Really enjoyed the 🦒🍔🐧 action at the end of every turn! pic.twitter.com/rY8kA0BCKS
#GameOfTheYear thread! 🏆#GOTY 1/11
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) December 28, 2021
Super Auto Pets by @TeamWoodGames is a simple, yet surprisingly deep auto-battler. Its true genius lies in its laid-back asynchronous format. You can play a full run in 10 minutes without ever waiting for anyone, but also take breaks anytime. pic.twitter.com/O72i8Q8sAq
