A tweet-based journal of what I’ve been playing…
The Legend of Bear-Truck Trucker by @manbearcar is a physics-based driving / balancing game that's also a trading sim. It's also regularly hilarious. Thank you @mossmouth for the recommendation! 🐻 pic.twitter.com/o4LohuAmg9
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 2, 2022
Neophyte by @RegalPigeon is a neat arena #roguelike where you put together a spell build from the random selection you find and draft passive effects on top to create synergies.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 3, 2022
The arena could use some variety, but the launch announcement says there will be content updates! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/8qcdOeVhK1
Flawless Super Auto Pets run. Crab meta! 🦀 pic.twitter.com/a7v1sqyPvH
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 4, 2022
Lucky Pirate is a slot-machine builder not unlike Luck Be A Landlord, but with a few twists: a) each spinner is its own "deck", so you have more control over positional synergies; b) it's on mobile. If that sound interesting go check it out, it's free!

8, 10, 10, 9, 10… thank you for the blessed Super Auto Pets evening @TeamWoodGames! 😇
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 4, 2022
Favorite run clearly "The Illegal Mushrooms". Can't argue with that 🦤🐀 combo… uh what? pic.twitter.com/AR11twmKK8
This one blew up a little bit on the #SuperAutoPets subreddit, so I don't want to withhold it from the Twitter crowd.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 6, 2022
Certainly one of the most epic battles for 10 wins ever… 🐔 pic.twitter.com/7bTRbgxQXd
It can seem like building big stat units is THE way to 10 wins in #SuperAutoPets, but actually there are many paths to victory. Here's a highly synergistic team with a spider feeding an ox feeding a kangaroo that triggers twice due to a tiger.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 8, 2022
Oh and a scorpion cause why not! pic.twitter.com/7AVNWICCvg
Have been getting back into Good Sudoku again over the holidays. It's the app that made me realize number puzzles can be great, so in a way probably one of the inspirations for CIPHER-8: https://t.co/haE7xVfNrF
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 9, 2022
So thanks a lot @helvetica and @games_by_jack! 🎉 pic.twitter.com/ghSAawzY70
Played the Mage Tower: Call of Zadeus playtest. Many interesting elements! Combat isn't really Magic-like. Each player fights their own set of monsters (anyone remember Thunderstone?) with occasional interaction. UI and animations feel very 90s, make of that what you will… 😅 pic.twitter.com/UK8NrlVyT7
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 9, 2022
That dolphin was like "Hey, can I hang with you grownups?" 🐬 #SuperAutoPets
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 10, 2022
Btw I think "mushroom eagle" and "steak deer" are by far my most-used food/pet combos. pic.twitter.com/ZoqHmHyauJ
Vampire Survivors by @poncle_soft calls itself "reverse bullet hell". In practice you're auto-firing out a bullet hell vs. an increasingly hellish swarm of bullet-like monsters. Solid core of pattern-based combat in a #roguelike-ish draft-driven structure. It's fun (and only $3)! pic.twitter.com/MnbPrzW3e7
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 11, 2022
I agree with @Northernlion's recent observations. On average the #SuperAutoPets community is more experienced, making runs harder. Fine with me, but new players will have an increasingly rough time.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 15, 2022
Maybe this calls for some sort of ranked ladder / matchmaking @TeamWoodGames? pic.twitter.com/zYJ3cTCYnw
Finally gave ROUNDS by @LandfallGames a spin. It's a 1v1 jump-and-shoot, but with the genius twist that each round the loser gets to draft enhancements for their character. Naturally results in really tense matches!
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) January 18, 2022
If you want to see it in action, check out @TheTimeToGrind! pic.twitter.com/NMuy6Uxg1y
FYI: @netflix has Arcanium (by @PlaySupercombo / @Rogue_Co) on mobile now. Pretty cool #roguelike deck-builder, and the app itself is quite polished as well! 🙂 pic.twitter.com/4NqiRI3WgM

Hey @poncle_soft, I like the new 🏳️🌈 bird! 😀#VampireSurvivors pic.twitter.com/PeZh2jSnUe

Got my @RetroidPocket 2+ today! Will figure out the emulation side of things eventually, but for now this is my primary mobile #SuperAutoPets device until @TeamWoodGames brings it to iOS. 🤩

An Android-based handheld certianly gives you lots of options… pic.twitter.com/sXdClKZ271

Really neat puzzler with an arcade-y "evergreen" feel to it. 🙂 https://t.co/wDugjYo0nA

Backpack Hero by @thejaspel1 is a unique game where inventory management isn't a tedious side activity, but the actual core gameplay. How you place stuff in your bag matters and you'll face gut-wrenching decisions about what to throw out!
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) February 18, 2022

Here's a shoutout to another solo #indiedev tirelessly supporting their game during early access: https://t.co/giHNXuyECu
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 3, 2022
Terminus is a turn-based zombie survival roguelike that feels like a boiled down and more accessible version of the legendary Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead.
Just unlocked the map in the latest #VampireSurvivors update and it adds a whole new dimension of planning.@poncle_soft has really been delivering on those updates. Happy to see 50k+ 98% positive ratings on such a low-fi "true #IndieDev" game. 😃 pic.twitter.com/jQer1RgeCP
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 4, 2022
Proof that @Northernlion is not the only one who can win with level 3 mushroom hedgehogs in #SuperAutoPets. 😎
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 5, 2022
What a strange team… pic.twitter.com/cLnMhK3G3T

🃏 @FadrikAlexander: Card Souls, a souls-like real-time card game.
🎱 @lectvs: Auto Balls, auto-battler with balls bouncing into each other.
🎒 @thejaspel1: Backpack Hero, a #roguelike where inventory management IS the game. pic.twitter.com/TDrkxpBk19
I've played quite a few "#roguelike match-3" games at this point and this is one of the coolest so far!
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 12, 2022
(Spot on recommendation by @syberfeldt btw!) https://t.co/dopBaSftGm
#7DRL is off the charts this year… 🤯 https://t.co/xKgrCGGx3P
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 12, 2022
Been playing @AutomonGame! In a way it's the single-player #roguelike version of Super Auto Pets, but with a strong parody vibe and (also like SAP) more depth than you'd think at first sight.
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 13, 2022
Or in short: "Pokémon but good". 🤪 pic.twitter.com/r09iNE1xPQ
When you get enough passive armor to fully block without even using your shield… but then you also just kill them. 💪
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 15, 2022
The positional element to "making builds" in @thejaspel1's Backpack Hero is really fun and a breah of fresh air to today's typical #roguelike synergy drafting. pic.twitter.com/lJzKp94PM8
Flawless run! Swan still has it, just needs a penguin friend! 🐧🦢 pic.twitter.com/26Ysexj9on

Back in @TheCycleGame for another playtest round! 🙌

If you've escaped from (playing) Tarkov somehow, this will draw you back deep into the risk-vs-reward loot-run loop. pic.twitter.com/sg3oyuan8R
If you ever thought a football-manager type of game for a MOBA-like eSport would be cool, try Teamfight Manager
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 20, 2022
by @TeamSamoyed!
They even have the ever-shifting meta by simulating mid-season balance patches, so you'll have to re-think your pick / ban strategy constantly. pic.twitter.com/biuYShWuk5
Played @BreachWanderers on phone. Close to Slay the Spire, but has fresh ideas. If you want, you can dive into the pre-game deck making a lot more (I don't, but they have "quickplay").
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 22, 2022
There's meta stuff, but with the "remove ads + currency bonus" IAP it doesn't feel too bad. pic.twitter.com/EjwPLKl1Om
Slowly getting the hang of @PUNKCAKE_delice's Rush for the Ages! Had a short timeline here with just 4 cards, but stea.. uh I mean "trading" that Irrigation card in my last turn gave me the win. I love how quickly the game moves (~5 minutes per match)! pic.twitter.com/EBU8YicBLP
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 27, 2022
So @TeamWoodGames just opened the new #SuperAutoPets expansion pack for testing… really takes you back to your first time playing when you were like "What the hell do any of these creatures even do?" 🤯 pic.twitter.com/l2037s1czP
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 28, 2022
For someone like myself who liked the core gameplay of Rift Wizard but wished it forced you to deal with randomized sub-selections instead of the full spell catalogue each run, this is really awesome! https://t.co/sqhrihucXt
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 29, 2022
Ok ok, already addicted! Come, come #roguelike fans! https://t.co/4afXQJOJdw pic.twitter.com/TYjHnM6IEW
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 29, 2022
Indivdual matches of @PUNKCAKE_delice's Rush for the Ages have a pretty relevant element of luck, but Gauntlet Mode (a series of 10 matches vs. 2 random civs each) has legs!
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 30, 2022
Flattering to call beating 12/20 civs a "win", but I guess I won more than I lost in my first go. 😅 pic.twitter.com/uhXrrqmejw
The upcoming #SuperAutoPets expansion is crazy! Pets get shuffled around before the round starts, pushed around during the battle, there's popcorn everywhere with the occasional fortune cookie, plz send help! 😂 pic.twitter.com/BK22p7VGms

Did you know none other than Richard Garfield made a Wordle variant called Fibble?https://t.co/R1fMmfKsy8
— Fabian Fischer (@Ludokultur) March 31, 2022
"The rules of fibble are the rules of wordle, except that the answer always includes exactly one lie."
The implications of that rule are interesting to think about! 🤔
